High Level Meeting of the Söderköping Process, 13-14 December 2010

The Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Hungary hosted the two-day High Level Meeting of the Söderköping Process in the “Duna Palota” (Danube Palace), Budapest; aiming at the cooperation in the area of border-management and migration between the EU and its Eastern neighbours. The meeting was chaired by Hungary, the Chair of the Process for the year 2010, and attended by the representatives of Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden, and Ukraine as participating governments; the Czech Republic as observer; and the IOM and the UNHCR as project partners. Following the assessment of the first year of the rotating chairmanship, the parties decided on further steps in ordered to incorporate the Process into the Eastern Partnership, its enlargement with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, welcomed the accession of Sweden and approved its application for the Chairmanship of the year 2011. The meeting was featured by the spirit of mutual interests and the need for the closer cooperation among the participants.
