The meeting gathered high level asylum, migration and border guard officials from Belarus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine, as well as representatives of the European Commission (EC), the Swedish Migration Board (SMB), United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and International Organization for Migration (IOM). The main objectives of the meeting were to evaluate the progress achieved within the Söderkoping process since the last Senior Level Review Meeting (16-17 October 2003) and to reach agreement on objectives, priorities and actions to be undertaken for further development of the Söderkoping process.
The meeting was organized jointly by the SMB, the UNHCR, and IOM, with the assistance of the Cross-Border Co-operation / Söderkoping Process Secretariat, funded by the EC, and served as a follow up to the meetings held in 2004/2005 within the Söderköping process.
