Thematic workshop on Registration Systems
29-30 September, 2005
The Workshop was organised jointly by the European Commission (EC), the Swedish Migration Board (SMB), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the assistance of the Cross-Border Co-operation Process (CBCP) Secretariat.
The Workshop gathered asylum, migration and border guard officials and representatives of non-governmental organisations from Belarus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine, as well as representatives of the EC, IOM, the SMB and UNHCR.
The main objectives of the Workshop were to:
share the experience of the newly acceded EU Member States with the Western NIS on registration systems of aliens, asylum seekers, refugees and migrants
share the latest legislative developments in the EU (Dublin I and II, Eurodac, SIS, VIS, transposition of EU requirements into national legislation of the EU Member States)
discuss access to data, creation and use of integrated databases, data protection in the context of shared registration systems
