As of 1 October 2016, the population of Belarus equals 9,505,200 persons


According to the latest data, the number of people residing in Belarus totaled 9,505,200 as of 1 October 2016, the Belarusian National Statistics Committee informed. Migration into the country remains the key factor behind the rising population numbers in Belarus. In January-September 2016 Belarus accepted 6,281 migrants. Natural increase made up 518 persons. In January-September 2016 89,434 babies were born; 88,916 persons died, down 1,825 as compared to January-September 2015. Belarus has migration exchange mainly with the CIS countries. In January-September 2016 Belarus welcomed 11,381 persons from these countries, 93 per cent of which enter from Russia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. Likewise, people who left Belarus mainly went to the CIS countries. Their share in the total number of people who moved out of Belarus amounted to 69.9 per cent, with 67.8 per cent moving to Russia.
