From the beginning of 2018 more than 4 thousand irregular immigrants were identified in Ukraine


According to the statement of the State Migration Service of Ukraine (SMS) 4 194 irregular migrants have been revealed in Ukraine during the first five months of 2018.

It is noted that in January-May the SMS identified 4194 illegal migrants, who arrived in Ukraine, whereas 9678 migrants were revealed for the whole of 2017, 6390 in 2016, 5111 in 2015, and 3518 in 2014.

At the same time, 305 asylum seekers filed applications for granting refugee status of complementary protection. During the same period, such status was granted to 23 people.

Most applications for granting refugee status or complementary protection were filed by people from Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Vietnam, Armenia, Guinea, Georgia, Zimbabwe, India, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Congo, Libya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Syrian Arab Republic, Somalia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Sri Lanka.
