EU states returned home 86 irregular migrants from Georgia
On 18 August 2017, a plane landed in the Tbilisi airport with the first group of Georgian citizens who resided on the territory of the European Union without appropriate documents. Irregular migrants were detained during a large-scale special operation in Germany and Greece. In all 86 Georgian citizens have already been returned from European countries and specifically from Düsseldorf and Athens.
The representative of the Department of Prevention and Monitoring of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia attended the return of Georgian citizens from the airports of Düsseldorf and Athens.
The process was coordinated by the European Agency for the Management of Operational Cooperation at the External Borders of the Member States of the European Union (FRONTEX).
