First meeting of the Inter-ministerial committee on diaspora, migration, development sectors held in Moldova
The first meeting of the Inter-ministerial committee on diaspora, migration and development (CIDMD) took place on the 12th of October, 2017. The event, organized by the State Chancellery, through the Diaspora Relations Bureau (BRD), brought together representatives of the central public administration and development partners.
The goal of the meeting was to familiarize the participants with a mechanism of coordinating the state policy in the fields of diaspora, migration and development, as well as with possibilities to implement it. Thus, the Committee will have the task to formulate strategic visions in the Diaspora and migration sector for medium and long term, validate the strategies and development plans, ensure the implementation of the actions from the government’s national development programmes.
The Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Moldova, Antonio Polosa, noted that Moldova had made significant progress in the development of the vision and normative framework for ensuring the practical integration of the migration in the national development strategies.
The Inter-ministerial committee on diaspora, migration and development was set up on the 8th of September, 2017, under the Government Decree No. 725 on the Mechanism of Coordinating the State Policy in the Fields of Diaspora, Migration and Development.
