Joint IOM/UNDP Global Migration Program for Moldova proceeds to the third phase
On 12 September 2017, representatives of IOM and UNDP, government officials and representatives of civil society of Moldova gathered to identify priorities for the third phase of the Joint IOM/UNDP Global Migration Programme “Integration of Migration in National Development Strategies” (MOMID).
Within the framework of the meeting, consultations were held with the central and local public administrations as well as with the civil society on the priorities of the third stage of the Program and on the migration phenomenon overall. Also, participants shared their proposals regarding the implementation of some actions/terms for the smooth functioning of the Programme’s third stage.
The event presented the Action Plan for 2017 – 2020 on the reintegration of Moldovan citizens returning from abroad and the Government Decision on the mechanism for the coordination of the state policy in the field of Diaspora, migration and development.
The Joint IOM/UNDP Global Migration Programme “Integration of Migration in National Development Strategies” (MOMID) aims to support Governments and partners in their efforts to integrate migration issues into national development planning processes and provide qualified expertise in monitoring and adapting approaches to migration and development. The Programme is implemented by IOM Moldova in partnership with UNDP Moldova, by financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The implementation period is from 01 February 2014 to 31 January 2018.
