More than 3.6 million Ukrainian citizens have used the visa-free regime for travel to Europe

Since the visa-free regime came into force with the countries of the European Union (11 June 2017) more than 3.6 million Ukrainian citizens have received biometric passports in order to travel to Europe. At the same time, almost 170,000 Ukrainian citizens took advantage of the simplified system. Thirty-eight per cent of Ukrainians used air transport for travel. The rest used the rail system or crossed the EU border at car checkpoints.

According to statistics, the greatest activity of travelers was observed on the borders with Poland and Hungary.

For the entire period of the visa-free regime, only 55 citizens of Ukraine were not allowed to cross the EU border, mainly on the ground of non-confirmation of purposes of their trips and pursuant to orders of the state bodies.
