Ukraine ratified agreement with Europol
On 7 August 2017, the Law of Ukraine "On the ratification of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Police Office on Operational and Strategic Cooperation" came into force. The agreement was concluded 14 December 2016 in Hague and ratified by the Parliament of Ukraine on 12 July 2017.
The agreement provides for the intensification of exchange of operational information and the creation of opportunities for joint crime investigations and search activities. This will allow the rapid exchange of information in criminal proceedings, participation in joint events, surveillance of organized criminal groups or migrant trafficking across Ukraine to Europe, location of persons involved in committing crimes, crime bosses and individuals on the wanted list who hide in Europe from Ukraine's law enforcement agencies and vice versa
In addition to the exchange of information, cooperation may include the exchange of special knowledges, general information, strategic analysis, information on criminal investigation procedures and crime prevention methods, joint participation in educational activities, as well as provision of advice and support in selected investigations.
