The volume of remittances to Georgia grew by 9%

The volume of remittances to Georgian commercial banks via electronic transfer systems in 2019 was “record-breaking”, amounting to 1.7 billion USD, which is 9.3% more than in 2018 (1.6 billion USD in 2018 and 1.3 billion USD in 2017), the National Bank of Georgia reports.

Most of the money was transferred to Georgia from Russia - 428.9 million USD, which is 24.7% of the total volume of transfers.

In addition to Russia, the list of countries - leaders in remittances to Georgia includes: Italy 239.2 million; Greece - 192.5 million; USA - 178.4 million; Israel - 162.5 million; Turkey - 94.8 million USD

The top 10 also includes Germany, Spain, Ukraine and Poland. In 2019, an unprecedented growth of 150% was recorded from Kyrgyzstan, more than 28 million USD was sent to Georgia using electronic systems from this country.
