Armenia plans to improve customs and border control procedures

On 12 December 2019, The Government of Armenia approved the Strategic Plan for Development and Improvement of Administration of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia for 2020-2024, which will help enforce the basic set of principles and guidelines for tax and customs authorities, as well as comply with the commitments assumed before international organizations. The document outlines the priorities for the coming years, aimed at improving tax and customs administration. The Plan has established 5 strategic development goals for the upcoming 5-years period, which are further segregated into 9 sub-goals with 55 actions for their achievement.

Third strategic goal is to upgrade available infrastructure as well as to build new modern ones, due to which almost all (core) processes of tax and customs procedures will be automated, to implement an effective mechanism for the exchange of information and cooperation within the framework of the EAEU, as well as to introduce faster, transparent and more effective border-crossing controls for the entrepreneurs.
