On 18 June Bulgaria, Moldova signed an agreement on the regulation of labour migration in Sofia.
The document will regulate the procedure of employment of citizens from both states. The institutions in charge of the implementation of the agreement are the labour force employment agencies from both countries, which will identify the labour offers submitted by employers and will select proper candidates. For their part, employers commit to cover the costs for travel and accommodation, as well as to pay the salaries in the same conditions as to local employees.
The treaty was signed for a five-year term, with a subsequent automatic extension for a three-year period.
According to official data, 5,147 Moldovan citizens resided in Bulgaria in 2016 and 23 Bulgarian citizens resided in Moldova.
Moldova has already concluded seven agreements in the sphere of labour migration with Ukraine, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Italy, Israel and France.
