Moldova introduce restrictions on border crossings

The Border Police and the Customs Service of Moldova are strengthening several measures to reduce the risk of spread of new type Coronavirus infection, especially at border crossing points and individual protection measures to subordinates, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

The decision of the National Public Health Commission No. 9 dated 15 March, prohibits the crossing of the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border starting from 15 March and the entry of foreign citizens into the country through the Moldovan-Romanian state border starting from 17 March.

The restrictions shall not refer to foreigners and stateless people permanently / temporarily residing in Moldova, drivers and staff servicing vehicles, who carry goods, crews of aircraft / ships and brigades of train liners. The exceptions are members of diplomatic missions and consular offices accredited in the Republic of Moldova, of international organizations / missions and their family members. Entering Moldova of other categories of foreigners may be authorized following the coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

Upon official information by the border and customs authorities of Romania and Ukraine, as well as based on the decision of the competent national authorities, several state border crossing points will be closed for an indefinite period.
