On 18 March 2020 the Panel Meeting on Labour Migration will take place in Brussels, Belgium.
The meeting will provide a platform for discussion and exchange of views and best practices between the EU and the Eastern Partnership countries. The current trends of labour migration between the Eastern Partnership countries and the EU, as well as within the Eastern Partnership countries will be examined. The meeting will also be an opportunity to take stock of the experiences from the EU labour migration pilot projects and present the upcoming call for new projects.
The meeting will be structured around the following sessions:
- Session I will consider recent developments in the EU regulatory framework on labour migration, the experience from the EU legal migration pilot projects in other regions and current migration trends in the EaP countries.
- Session II will focus on migration schemes and different approaches adopted by the EaP countries and EU Member States, on the roles of the national employment services in the process of labour migration management and on the best practice of cooperation between origin and destination countries.
- Session III will be devoted to future trends and challenges in the area of labour migration policies in the EaP countries as well as the impact of visa liberalisation on migration flows and main challenges in obtaining quality labour migration statistics and data.
The event will be held with the support of the European Commission and International Organisation for Migration (IOM) under the framework of the Eastern Partnership Panel on Migration, Mobility and Integrated Border Management.
